About The Artist

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

Everyone has their own method of finding their true self.
For me it is through my art. My hands speak more than my words. My true form of prayer or meditation happens when I'm in my room lost in my work. No temple or holy place can invoke the same intense feeling that is born from my art.
The thoughts that begin in my workshop help me through "real life". They still my mind and allow me to see the world from behind a screen, where it doesn't touch me.
I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process.
An artist from Bangalore - Karnataka, India
Aruna picked up the love for handicrafts at college. A group of friends, the love for beauty and a little free time introduced her to the whole new world of creativity.
The first display of the work was a stall of amateur work displayed to a group of friends and relatives (Jan 2002). Surprisingly, it proved to be profitable. A couple of exhibitions later, Aruna broke away from the group of 4 and started the business of her own.
This led to a series of exhibitions and sales all over Bangalore, Safina Plaza being the favorite.
She joined non-profit organisation like AWAKE and Karnataka State Women's Development Corporation, took part in some of the large exhibitions organised for the entrepreneurial women of Bangalore. She worked her way into one of the newspapers too.

With the help of her parents and a few friends, she worked her way through a year of exhibitions, atleast one every two months.
Over the years her relationship with art was on and off, but true love never dies. Right now she juggles a job in IT (what else) and pottery at any available free moment. Exhibitions are squeezed into weekends and holidays. The dream of an art studio or two still shines bright in her heart.

......and it arrives

He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.
